MARVIN HAMLISCH SCORES 'THE INFORMANT'

FILM MARKS 11TH COLLABORATION OF HAMLISH WITH ALAN & MARILYN BERGMAN

Los Angeles, CA – Academy Award® winning director Steven Soderbergh recruits legendary composer Marvin Hamlisch to score “The Informant!” After more than a decade of scoring films, Hamlisch is back with his upbeat, jazzy original music for "The Informant!" The film, based on a true story, stars Matt Damon as Mark Whitacre, a rising executive who turns whistleblower for the FBI. “The Informant” also reunites for the 11th time, the multi-award winning music team of Hamlisch and lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman with their infectious song, “Trust Me.” This musical dream team is responsible for many legendary songs in film including the iconic love song, “The Way We Were.” Together they have won Oscars®, Grammys™ and Golden Globes®. Hamlisch has also won Emmys®, Tonys®, and a Pulitzer Prize. Marvin Hamlisch has garnered more music accolades than any living person.

Steven Soderbergh decided on Hamlisch for “The Informant!” while the director was on the set of “Che.” One evening in his trailer, Soderbergh and film producer Gregory Jacobs were watching the Woody Allen classic “Bananas.” Soderbergh said, “When was the last time someone wrote a score like that?” Reading Soderbergh’s mind, Jacobs said, “We should get Marvin for ‘The Informant!”

Hamlisch’s music career is distinguished by versatility and substance; his groundbreaking show, “A Chorus Line,” earned the Pulitzer Prize. The prolific composer’s credits include the Oscar®-winning scores and songs for “The Way We Were” and “The Sting.” Other film credits include “Sophie’s Choice,” “Ordinary People,” “Three Men and a Baby,” “Ice Castles,” “Take the Money and Run,” and “Save the Tiger.”

Currently Marvin Hamlisch is the principal pops orchestra conductor for the National Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, Seattle Symphony and San Diego Symphony. His relationship with Barbara Streisand extends to musical director and arranger on her concert tour of the U.S. and England as well as the television special, “Barbra Streisand: The Concert,” for which he received two of his Emmys®.

SCORE FOR 'SURROGATES' ALREADY AVAILABLE

Composer Richard Marvin reunites for the fourth time with Director Jonathan Mostow for the sci-fi thriller "Surrogates," staring Bruce Willis. Marvin and Mostow teamed up in the past on the WWII drama “U-571,” the thriller “Flight of the Black Angel” and the action/crime film “Breakdown.” For “Surrogates,” Marvin incorporates over 120 musicians, along with electronic elements, to create an epic dramatic score. His greatest challenge composing this score was maintaining the human emotion and isolation portrayed in the film. The score is available now through Lakeshore Records on iTunes and Amazon Digital and will be in stores November 24.

“Surrogates” describes a near future where humans live in isolation and only interact through robotic bodies that serve as surrogates. When several humans are murdered after their surrogates are destroyed, a cop (Willis) investigates the crimes through his own surrogate. After a near fatal encounter, the cop's surrogate is destroyed and forces him to bring his human form out of isolation and unravel a conspiracy behind the crimes.

Marvin went to school at Indiana University Bloomington, majoring in Jazz Piano. After just two years in Los Angeles, he became a top studio pianist and was playing for composers: Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams and Maurice Jarre.
In addition to scoring "Surrogates," Marvin worked closely with director Curtis Hanson to write the music for the new dramatic CBS’ series "Three Rivers." He has also written music for HBO’s “In Treatment” and “Six Feet Under,” as well as the WB’s “The OC,” CBS’ “Without A Trace” and Showtime’s “Dead Like Me.” Marvin has over 100 feature film and TV episodes to his credit. He began his TV composing career working with Mike Post on the classic shows “The A-Team” and “Hardcastle & McCormick.” Marvin’s upcoming projects include the documentary “Street Dogs of South Central” and the comedy “A Fork in the Road.”

JESPER KYD SCORES ASSASSIN'S CREED II

Assassin's Creed II Original Soundtrack available November 16th

Los Angeles - November 2nd, 2009 - Award-winning composer Jesper Kyd has created an epic soundtrack for Assassin's Creed II, the sequel to the fastest-selling new IP in video game history. Following his atmospheric score for the original Assassin's Creed, Kyd takes the music in an adventurous new direction and crafts an immensely diverse, melodic and progressive musical pallete featuring acoustic and symphonic orchestrations with emotional depth and diversity. The original score was recorded with A-List musicians and a Hollywood orchestra and choir at the world-renowned Capitol Studios. The Assassin's Creed II Original Soundtrack will be available for digital download from popular music stores on November 16th.

Assassin's Creed II features a new hero, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a young Italian noble, and a new era, the Renaissance. The game tells an epic story of family, vengeance and conspiracy set in the pristine, yet brutal, backdrop of a Renaissance Italy. Ezio befriends Leonardo da Vinci, takes on Florence's most powerful families and ventures throughout the canals of Venice where he learns to become a master assassin. The music propels the action, captures the allure and mystery of the story and immerses players in the breathtakingly detailed settings.

Patrice Desilets, Creative Director at Ubisoft: "Jesper Kyd's score for Assassin's Creed II brings players into the Italian Renaissance by providing a true sense of depth for the poignant moments, while also giving a jolt of adrenaline to the action-packed sequences. We are thrilled to have Jesper Kyd back with us in making Assassin's Creed II an epic title on all levels." Jesper Kyd: "We created a unique musical identity for Assassin's Creed II that reflects the character and story of Ezio and elevated the music, both in terms of creativity and live production, to a whole new level."

Assassin's Creed II is the product of over two years of intensive development by the original creative team behind the Assassin's Creed brand. Assassin's Creed II is scheduled to launch on November 17th, 2009 for the PLAYSTATION® 3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PC.
